Sources of Income

We are supported in three main ways:

Since Dial-a-Ride began operation over twenty years ago, we have been most fortunate to receive a consistent and steady income from a range of local and even national bodies. Income has averaged nearly &pound50,000 per year.

Typically, Powys Council with the Teaching Health Board and Herefordshire Councils have been our largest individual benefactors. We also greatly appreciate local support from Hay-on-Wye Town Council and a dozen local Community Councils. Funds from various central government schemes are also most welcome. In total, these have provided about one-third of our income.

A number of private charitable organisations, businesses and societies, many of them local to Hay-on-Wye have supported us with another one-third of our average income. Continued generous support from Public and Private Bodies is of vital importance to Dial-a-Ride, especially for endorsing the importance of what we do in helping our elderly, less mobile and less well-off citizens. That many of our benefactors are local is a mark of the esteem in which our service is held.

Membership subscriptions and fares along with donations and fundraising bring in the remaining third. Donations and fundraising provide a further indication that the Community thinks we're doing the right thing.

If you or your organisation is minded to support Dial-a-Ride, please do contact our Chief Executive. We'd be pleased to provide you with any information that you may need.

A recent grant from the Department for Transport has enabled us to purchase a new minibus. This is gratefully acknowledged and very welcome - our current MPV vehicle is now nine years old and beginning to show it!

Would you consider leaving a Legacy?

A generous way to support Dial-a-Ride is with a Legacy. You can remember us in your will if you so wish. It would be a lovely and kindly action for help future generations. You could leave a specific amount, or a proportion of your estate, or a specific item of jewellery or furniture; any bequest small or large will be greatly appreciated. You can specify if it is for the service's general funds or a particular purpose such as replacing a vehicle or equipment. It is your kindness and wishes that will be remembered as helping this important service to carry on.
